At the scottish parliament -
Scotland’s women stand

Scotland’s Women Stand was a 9 month campaign in partnership with YWCA Scotland - The Young Women’s Movement, the Scottish Parliament, and the Government of Scotland to support and empower women of Scotland to stand for political office.

Through a combination of information and an inspiring event, we brought together a cohort of women and equipped them with the knowledge they need to take their next steps in politics. Whether it’s standing for office as an MP or registering to vote, we endeavoured to motivate women to get involved and see their voice as an essential part of political life in Scotland.

The #ScotWomenStand campaign culminated on Saturday, 7th September, 2019, where we brought together hundreds of women across Scotland for a day of inspiration, information, and motivation. With 400+ women gathering at the Scottish Parliament and dozens more joining online and through regional hubs in Stornoway, Aberdeen, Lerwick, and Lochgilphead, it’s our sincere hope that this campaign served to usher in the next group of Scottish women politicians, building towards gender-equal politics across the country.
